My Resume

Jajuan Monroe NCAT Graduation

How I started

I’ve always been a curious and energetic person even as a kid growing up in Durham, NC. I believe this has allowed me to make friends pretty easily and learn about several random things that I have interest in. One of the largest things that I gained interest in early on was technology due to my aunt buying me a Playstation.

Although there were other interests along the way, like music and biomedical science, that interest in technology pushed me to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, NC.

Where I went

After graduating, I started my career off as a Data Analyst for Badische Anilin- und Sodafabrik (BASF), a European multinational chemical company and the world's largest chemical producer, where I managed customer data integrity by performing validations, processing electronic requests for customer updates, making acceptance or denial decisions, and communicated with smaller business partners to verify and track monthly sales. I gained significant skills in process management, data validation, and communication through my time at BASF and eventually I decided that I wanted to be a bit more involved in helping people digitally, so I eventually left BASF and began working at a non-profit called Center for Community Self-Help (Self-Help).

At Self-Help, I began as an Online Marketing and Communications Associate and within a few years, I had some major accomplishments under my belt. Accomplishments like leading a project to migrate the organization’s intranet to an updated platform, utilizing web analytics to identify opportunities to enhance and improve organizational websites, creating training materials and conducting training for team managers for the intranet, and managing a vendor relationship. My impact on the team led me to be promoted to Marketing and Communications Digital Manager where I have been able to dive deeper into how I can use strategy and data to create an effective plan and become a leader that will help myself and those around me grow into better versions of themselves.

Where I’m going

I believe that to make yourself adaptable and efficient in any setting, you must stay open-minded and never stop growing. I noticed that with every step of my professional journey, one curiosity that was always there was what makes organizations and businesses successful internally and externally. With that in mind, I made the decision to continue my education and pursue a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Technology, Entrepreneurship & Commercialization from North Carolina State University.

My goal for the future is to do more work within strategy and operations to assist people and businesses in achieving their goals.
